Meet Dr. Tassopoulou
Dr. Maria Tassopoulou
I am very fortunate to work in this extraordinary and dynamic profession. I enjoy the challenges that are unique to each patient. I am intrigued in meeting a vast variety of people of all ages and backgrounds and I learn every day by the interaction with them. I welcome, encourage, and enjoy collaboration between my patients’ general dentist and other dental specialty professionals because I feel that a successful approach in treating patients happens on a multi-disciplinary level.
I am passionate about providing excellent, evidence-based care to all my patients with emphasis in addressing their unique concerns and goals. I enjoy connecting with my patients and seeing the positive transformation throughout the course of their treatment. The most rewarding feeling that I receive through my profession is witnessing the change in patients’ self-esteem and confidence as a result of their new, beautiful smiles.
Education and Continuing Education
A native of Athens, Greece, I graduated from Athens University Dental School with my Doctorate of Dental Surgery. After moving to the United States, I attended the University of Pittsburgh School of Dental Medicine where I received my Master of Science degree in dentistry, certification in orthodontics, and US Dental Certification and Licensure. It was here that Dr. Madera and I met. After graduation, we both practiced orthodontics in different settings until few months ago, our career paths met once again. We both share the same values in life and we are both passionate about providing the best treatment to our patients.
After teaching as a full-time orthodontic faculty at the University of Pittsburgh School of Dental Medicine, in the department of orthodontics, for more than five years, I still volunteer my time when possible and give lectures there. I sincerely enjoy the interaction with the future dentists and orthodontists while staying current with all current literature on my specialty.
